HISTORY
The Solid Rock Baptist Church was organized under the leadership of Rev. Ernest L. Reed in October 19, 2003 at 4:00pm at the Wolverine State Convention center, 615 S Jefferson. Reverend Reed preached a sermon titled “Mountain Top Test: from Genesis 22:1-14. After the sermon the call for discipleship was offered and eight individual answered the call. These were Eric Stephenson, Minister Kenneth Reed, Mozella Reed, Cynthia Reed, Ruth Gains, Charles Lee, Van Robinson, Carlis Jackson and the church has it first members.
The Church held services in the Green Chapel upstairs on the second floor of the Convention Center. In the Chapel Solid Rock experience the presence of God every Sunday and by the year 2004 the congregation grew to twenty-five.
The first choir organized it Choir on August 6, 2005

2003

2004

Membership grew to 25 individuals.
2005

June 12: Moved to 536 South Warren and renamed Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church Ministries.

August 6: First choir organized.

October 23: Mission Department held its first meeting.

November 12: Adult and Youth Usher Board established.
2006

September 12: Relocated to 1536 S. Jefferson, experiencing significant growth.
2008

Hosted first Summer Revival, Men’s Day, Annual Church Picnic, and Laymen’s Meeting.
2009

January: First deacon appointed.

April: Trinity Baptist Church gifted its building at 605 Meade.

September 13: First service held at the new location, which remains the church’s home.
2011

Hosted first Vacation Bible School with 115 participants.
2016

Major building improvements: new siding, roof repairs, window replacements, and office equipment upgrades.
2017-2019

Sanctuary carpet replaced, and vacant lots surrounding the property were acquired for expansion.
2022
June 17: Groundbreaking ceremony for new addition, including handicap-accessible restrooms, a finance office, pastor’s study, and nursery room.

empowerment of humanity. Committed to living
out the loving liberating message of the Gospel,
guided by the Holy Spirit. We seek to be the
hands, feet, and voices of our Risen Savior, Jesus
Christ.
